The Phils are back again, to destroy the opponents and eventually the city if they win another World Series. I figured I would write about the riots last year after the Phillies won the World Series. If you didn't hear about it... your not a sports fan. If you were involved, you probably had the time of your life. The riot consisted of shutting down broad street, a 6 lane street that runs north to south in Philadelphia. The street was fluttered with people screaming, yelling, running, honking, and everything else you can think of. Fires were started in the streets, windows broken, news vans dissaembled, cars flipped, subways shut down, lightpoles brought down, plenty of other things, as well as riot people. It was an amazing atmosphere. Now some may say you win the World Series and destroy your city.. well you haven't been to Philadelphia ever in your life because the city needs some revamping as it is, and the fans just helped the process along in my opinion. The feel you have when the road is nothing but people and you are all celebrating the same thing.
Now there was an official parade in the following days in which the city's public transportation was overwhelmed and shut down. The parade attracted around 2 million people, the riot was definetly less than that but trust me it was far more enthusiastic. So if the Phillie's win this year again I am sure more events of this type will be happening, and i recommend if your in the area to stop in and enjoy the festivities because it doesn't happen very often. Especially in philadelphia when you see a large population of people out of control that heavily over number the police. JayG
